Frequently Asked Questions

  • We are in network with the commercial policies (non-Medicaid/Medicare) of Anthem, United/Optum, Cigna, and Aetna. Those policies would be through an employer or purchased on the martketplace. If you check your insurance portal to see if we accept your insurance, we will not show up on that directory. We do use insurance for individual sessions, but not for true couples/family therapy. If you wish to check your benefits prior to scheduling, you may complete a profile HERE. Call us at 276-298-5034 if you have additional questions. We also provide counseling at a private pay rate and can check your out-of-network benefits for policies we are not in network with. Unfortunately, Medicaid/Medicare does not have out-of-network benefits and will only pay for in-network providers.

  • We have two offices located in Wise, VA (217 E. Main St.) & Abingdon, VA (155 Valley St NE Ext). We can also provide telehealth across Virginia as long as the client is physically located in Virginia for the session. GPS is sometimes wonky with our Abingdon address so click HERE for Youtube video directions.

  • While we do run into a waitlist at times, please let us know if there are any severe issues creating an increased urgency. Also, we do offer an online self-paced Anxiety Series you can check out that covers common concepts discussed in therapy if that is of interest.

  • If you already have an account, click HERE to get to the login page. If you have trouble getting in, you can call us or your counselor directly.

  • You will need to have your intake paperwork completed prior to the first appointment. That paperwork will be sent to you via email. You will not need to print any information as it can all be completed through our portal(s). Please contact us at 276-298-5034 if you have difficulties completing it. Also, please bring a method of payment for the session cost or copay (card only for insurance clients).

  • Expect your counselor to review your history form where you have the opportunity to fill in gaps or provide more details. Your counselor will complete a thorough assessment while addressing your goals for therapy. Sometimes, a treatment plan is also created collaboratively in the first session.

  • We use a HIPAA-secure platform to provide video sessions to clients, which is the same platform you sign intake paperwork on. You MUST be located in Virginia at the time of the session due to license limitations.

  • You do not need a referral. You can call us directly and ask any questions you would like assistance with.

  • Early in the process, you will develop a treatment plan with your therapist. In that plan, you identify goals you would like to achieve and what that would look like. Upon review of the plan, sometimes those goals are reached and sometimes, you find that a previous goal wasn't really what you needed, and that's okay! Sometimes, it isn't about changing who you are, it's about learning to love who you are.

  • We send copies of our paperwork through our secure portal; however, you can access our Notice of Privacy Practices here. Here is additional information about Good Faith Estimates:

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimatein writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider youchoose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good FaithEstimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 276-298-5034.
